King Charles’ plans to attend King Harald’s funeral remain uncertain, with Prince William reportedly being considered as a possible royal representative instead.
As reported by Hello, King Harald’s “dear cousin,” King Charles’ attendance at the emotional funeral remains uncertain.
Journalist Emily Nash said: "There's probably some flexibility. But the honest answer is we don't know, there are obviously discussions going on behind the scenes. Last I heard, it hadn't been decided."
With the King expected to be in Scotland at the time, William could potentially travel to pay his respects on behalf of the Royal Family.
"Now, quite often in a situation like this, it would fall to the heir," Emily continued.
She added, "Obviously, the King has master state concerns, like he's up in Scotland next week... when the funeral takes place.
The journalist went on to say, "So, it's not impossible for him to attend, but usually he would deputise to his heir. So, it falls on William potentially to go and pay his respects on behalf of the Royal family."
Though the British royals have yet to confirm who will attend, several members already have engagements lined up for next week.
Prince Edward is set to travel to Switzerland, while Duchess Sophie and Princess Anne also have a number of engagements scheduled.
King Charles' tribute to King Harald
However, King Charles led the tributes, writing: "It is with the most profound sadness that my wife and I have learned of the death of my dear cousin, King Harald V of Norway.
"For thirty-five years, King Harald served his people with unwavering dedication, guiding Norway through times of great change with warmth and humility."

On August 28, King Harald V died at the age of 89, having reigned for 35 years as Europe’s oldest monarch.
The Norwegian Palace confirmed that Harald will be laid to rest at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday, September 9, following memorial ceremonies across the country.
The service will commence at 1pm under the direction of Church of Norway president Olav Fykse Tveit.
