Travis Kelce must be really proud of his wife, Taylor Swift as she has bagged yet another special honour.
In recognition of her profilic music career and global fanbase popularly known as Swifties, a newly discovered insect has been named, Swiftiephylus.
As reported by various outlets, on Wednesday, September 9, researchers at UC Riverside announced the discovery of 12 new plant-eating insects, one of which has been name after the 14-time Grammy winner.
According to the Insect Systematics and Evolution journal, the newly discover bug includes four species named in Latin to honour Taylor’s standout albums, Swiftiephylus intrepidus (fearless), Swiftiephylus taylorae (Taylor), Swiftiephylus amator (lover) and Swiftiephylus poetorum (poets).
Revealing the reason of naming the bug after the Midnights songstress’, Researcher and co-author Sarah Schroeder noted, “It felt authentic to me as a lifelong Swiftie to honor Taylor in this way, as well as bring attention to the diversity of insects that has yet to be discovered.”
Schroeder – who is a diehard swiftie explained that she came up with motivation to name the bugs after Taylor because of their ability to camouflage among Australian she-oaks.
“Taylor Swift’s iconic look is her blonde hair and red lips. These insects are pale yellow with accents of red throughout,” said Schroeder, adding, “In the paper I refer to them as blonde.”
Explaining her approach behind the significance of name the insects, Schroeder noted, “Taxonomy is the cornerstone of conservation.”
“If we don’t describe species, we don’t know they exist and can’t conserve them. Honoring Taylor through naming these species after her is a way to honor conservation science and bring attention to all the unknown diversity,” she added.
This update came just days after a bombshell report claimed that Taylor has distanced from her longtime pal, Ed Sheeran after his "political move."
As per the sources, Taylor decided to maintain distance with Ed after the opening act at his MetLife Stadium concert, where he was joined by Macklemore – who raised his voice for Palestinians by and performed Hind’s Hall, with images of Gaza playing in the background.
“Taylor wants no part of this, she loves Ed, but she is incredibly careful about what becomes attached to her name," an insider told Rob Shuter.
“This isn’t Taylor turning against Ed,” claimed the source, adding “It’s Taylor protecting Taylor. She knows one text, one photograph, one comment can become an international headline.”
