Lady Louise Windsor has been spotted with her boyfriend during a rare public appearance as she enjoys a gap year away from university.

The daughter of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie made a rare gap-year appearance at the National British Carriage Driving Championships in Essex, where boyfriend Felix da Silva-Clamp was seen supporting her as she competed with Balmoral Bertie.

The young royal’s appearance was made even more special by the fact that Prince Philip had previously driven the same pony.

Lady Louise looked determined as she made her way through the challenging course in beige jodhpurs and a red-and-blue helmet.

The outing offered a rare glimpse of the couple together after Louise spent much of the summer away from the public spotlight.

On the other hand, her boyfriend cheered her on from the sidelines, sporting a Royal Windsor Horse Show cap.

The sighting gave fans a rare glimpse of Louise and her boyfriend together after she stayed largely out of the public eye over the summer.

The late Prince Philip’s longstanding love of carriage driving inspired Louise, who eventually took up the discipline and began competing herself.

She has been involved in competitive carriage driving for approximately five years and frequently appears at events on the circuit.

Louise has carried on her grandfather’s passion for carriage driving while building a reputation of her own.

Notably, Felix has become a regular at her competitions, recently supporting her at the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials in West Sussex, where they were pictured wearing Royal Windsor Horse Show caps.

They also joined the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh at a performance of Inala in Edinburgh. Louise and Felix are understood to have met while studying at the University of St Andrews and participating in its drama society.

The latest sighting comes after Louise graduated from the Scottish university in July, completing her four-year English degree.

Her parents, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, joined her for photographs to celebrate the milestone.
