As the fallout over Macklemore’s removal from Ed Sheeran’s US tour intensified Tuesday, the Love Me Like You Do singer posted a heart emoji on X, prompting fans to flood the comments and call the move “iconic.”
One user noted, “Objectively funniest thing she could’ve tweeted right now. Not a word. Not a joke. Just a single heart. Honestly iconic.”
“That one just sent the entire timeline into overdrive. Ellie knows exactly what she’s doing,” agreed another.
Others simply begged Ellie to elaborate, with one replying, “girl say words. wtf does a heart mean.”

Notably, this came amid Ed Sheeran is facing backlash after Macklemore was dropped from his LOOP tour over pro-Palestinian comments, prompting his remaining opening acts to withdraw.
Macklemore later pledged $1 million from his tour earnings to Palestinian aid groups and challenged Patriots owner Robert Kraft to match the donation.
The move appeared to work, with the billionaire later announcing he would match Ed’s $2 million donation after Macklemore pledged $1 million to Palestinian aid.
Ed had also assured fans the tour would continue as planned.
After that on Tuesday, September 15, the opening acts Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga each announced that they would no longer take part in Sheeran’s ongoing Loop Tour.
The final show for Sheeran’s Loop Tour is scheduled for November 7 in Tampa, Fla.
