Macklemore has launched a three-stop "Free Palestine" tour after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's shows for his public stance against the genocide in Gaza.
Announcing the tour on Instagram on Thursday, September 24, Macklemore penned, "If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it's that something has shifted over the last three years. There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now."
"It's 2026. Being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore. People are asking artists to show up, educate themselves and be in community. To use the stage for more than entertainment. To push back when the call for a Free Palestine is met with attempts to silence it," he added.
Macklemore removed from Ed Sheeran's tour
Macklemore was one of the support acts for Ed's two concerts in New Jersey on his Loop tour.
During his sets, the rapper chanted "Free Palestine" before performing his 2024 protest track Hind's Hall.
Following his chant, Ed's touring company dismissed Macklemore from the lineup over his comments about the genocide in Palestine.
Meanwhile, in his own statement, the Shape of You singer said that he was not the one who decided to remove Macklemore from the tour and has since donated $2 million to provide global humanitarian aid.
Besides Macklemore, Ed Sheeran's remaining support acts, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga, withdrew from his tour in support of the rapper.
"What happened to me is bigger than one artist or one stage. When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention," Macklemore said on Thursday.
Macklemore reveals 'Free Palestine' tour dates
The rapper shared that after being dropped from the tour, he reached out to different artists, "who understand that our platforms mean very little if we're only willing to use them when it's safe".
While the final artists lineup has not been announced, the show will take place in Dublin, Paris and London on October 26, October 29 and October 30, respectively.
Moreover, Macklemore shared that all proceeds of the tour will go to the organisations supporting the Palestinian people and movement.
