Ed Sheeran is reportedly considering scrapping his upcoming shows at Kraft’s Stadium, raising uncertainty over the singer’s planned performances at the venue.
As reported by TMZ, the sources shared that the Photograph singer was supposed to perform Friday and Saturday nights at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, but the stage construction's been paused because of a massive nor'easter storm bearing down on New England.
The stage was partially assembled Thursday morning, according to sources.
By Thursday evening, however, the crew had been instructed to pause construction as officials considered whether to begin dismantling it.
The storm is expected to bring strong winds and several inches of rain beginning Friday night, raising concerns for fans attending the open-air stadium and potentially posing a safety risk to the stage.
Another stadium source told the outlet that everything was ready for Ed Sheeran’s performance Friday night, except for the lighting, which the crew was still testing Thursday evening in case the show goes ahead.
No final decision has been made, and it remains unclear whether the shows would be rescheduled if they are canceled.
Ticket holders were already seeking refunds before the weather concerns emerged. Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell said Thursday that nearly 200 people had complained about difficulties obtaining refunds from Ticketmaster for Ed Sheeran’s shows, prompting her office to demand that the company return their money.
The complaints were unrelated to the weather and stemmed from Macklemore being removed from the lineup.
The storm concerns surfaced shortly after Macklemore criticized Ed Sheeran and Kraft in announcing his “Free Palestine Tour.”
