Sarah Ferguson's unexpected fear has emerged, and it is similar to Queen Camilla's.

The former Duchess of York, who has disappeared from the public eye since the arrest of her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has a phobia which once terrified her so much.

Months after her disappearance, Ferguson's old interview resurfaced in which she briefly explained what haunted her at night.

Sarah Ferguson details her fears

The mom of two recalled how she was once "so scared" that she would be approached by "spooks" while sleeping.

"I sat up in bed and slept with my eyes open because I was so scared of the dark. I thought that if I slept with my eyes open, I could see any spooks coming towards me," the 66-year-old estranged Royal Family member added.

She continued speaking about her phobia of darkness, revealing that the fear is not being in the dark; it is her thoughts that haunted her: what if she closed her eyes, the spooks could come towards her.

"I realised that my fear of the dark was my fear of the demons inside myself and the black treacle, my fears and anxieties that were inside myself," she told Hello.

Sarah Ferguson gave this interview shortly after her separation from her former partner, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, in 1996.

Queen Camilla's fears

For the unversed, the former Duchess is not only the one royal member, who has fear with Darkness, however, Queen Camilla is also have multiple phobias, joining the two royals in the same club.

Her Majesty has not one but two fears, one is Aerophobia and the other one is needle phobia.

What is Aerophobia?

Aerophobia is a well-known, long-standing fear of flying and turbulence that makes long-haul travel difficult.

However, due to the phobia, Queen Camilla usually does not accompany her husband, King Charles III, on most of his royal tours.

What is Needle/Syringe phobia?

Another major fear of Her Majesty is needle phobia, a fear of medical needles that she actively overcame to receive her COVID-19 vaccinations.
