Mike Tindall opens up about marriage struggles with Zara Tindall in candid interview

Mike Tindall has spoken out about his marriage with Zara Tindall and the challenges they faced over the years in a rare move.

The couple tied the knot in July 2011 and are parents of three children, Mia, 12; Lena, 8; and Lucas, 5.

While the pair are often seen supporting each other publicly, their marriage is not without trouble.

Mike Tindall reveals difficult moments in marriage

During his Talk Horse appearance, Mike noted, "I think it all depends on the scenario."

"I think it's very easy when it's around sport or whether it's around the animals and the kids, but obviously other nuances become more difficult," he said.

He added, "I think neither of us necessarily chase out confrontation until it happens. That's sometimes not the best way of doing it."

"But then when it happens, I think we're probably pretty good at actually talking about it. You've just got to try and muddle your way through. It's never easy, is it?"

He then cheekily confessed that sometimes "you just want to annoy someone, just for the sake of it", adding, "I probably do that a bit too much!"

How Mike Tindall eases Zara Tindall ahead of competitions

Being professional sports figures, both Mike and Zara understand each other's need.

The English former rugby union player revealed that he tries to give his wife some space before her cross-country competitions, which require "massive focus".

But he added, "I try and make her laugh every now and again to remind her you don't have to be that serious."

Zara is a professional equestrian and a Olympic silver medallist.

She won an individual gold medal at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games and a team silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
