King Charles and Queen Camilla are all set to attend a historic event.

The British monarch, who has been reigning the UK since 2022, is preparing to make a high-profile appearance with the Queen for a historic ceremony in just hours, GB News reported.

As per the update, the Royal Couple will attend the inaugural ceremony of the Welsh Parliament on Thursday, October 15, 2026, marking their first time since becoming the King and Queen of the UK.

For the major event, the Welsh Parliament is hosting a landmark ceremony to formally open the seventh Senedd at the Siambr in Cardiff Bay.

The ceremony is regarded as historic for two big reasons: it marks the inauguration of the newly expanded Welsh legislature and is the first Senedd opening attended by King Charles III as monarch.

While Charles had previously also attended every Senedd opening since the first ceremony in 1999, his past appearances were as the Prince of Wales.

Leading the ceremony, the Senedd Members will be joined by two Welsh Youth Parliament representatives and escorted by the Welsh Guards Corps of Drums.

Inside the Siambr, King Charles, Llywydd Huw Irranca-Davies MS and First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth MS will deliver powerful speeches, followed by demonstrations of musical and vocal performances celebrating the Welsh culture and creativity as part of the formal opening proceedings.

"This ceremony marks the start of a new chapter in the Senedd's history. It is a larger Parliament, elected through a new electoral system designed to better reflect the diversity of views and experiences across our country,” said Llywydd ahead of the event.

He added, "We are honoured that Their Majesties The King and Queen are here to share this moment with us.”

King Charles III has been reigning the United Kingdom since September 8, 2022, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
