Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are facing a court appearance over a long-running legal dispute, bringing the former couple back into the spotlight over a battle that dates back several years.
Documents obtained by TMZ revealed that the former couple is facing further legal proceedings in the case filed by businessman Carl Westcott.
The dispute dated back to the sale of a $15 million Santa Barbara property, which Carl Westcott challenged in a lawsuit against Perry's business manager, Bernie Gudvi.
After losing the case, Westcott was ordered to surrender the keys to the Dark Horse singer, while the singer was required to pay the remaining $4 million owed on the home.
In the latest court filings, Westcott claimed Perry paid him $900,000 in June but has yet to settle the outstanding balance.
He has asked the court for permission to subpoena Perry and Bloom so he can question them about the money he alleges remains unpaid.
Perry’s manager pushed back against the request, saying there was no emergency warranting the subpoenas.
He argued that the payment to Westcott must wait until the resolution of Westcott’s appeal over a separate $3 million he allegedly owes Gudvi.
Perry’s manager, Bernie Gudvi, argued that Westcott’s request was an attempt to harass the singer and Bloom.
A ruling from the judge is still pending.
