In a major royal moment, Crown Prince Christian made his debut appearance at an official state banquet.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary welcomed Tô Lâm, Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and his wife, Ngô Ph elseng Ly, to Denmark on Monday afternoon, October 19.
On Day 1 of the visit, the Royal Couple hosted the Vietnamese Presidential Couple for a grand State Banquet, where their eldest child, Crown Prince Christian, joined them for his first state banquet appearance.
“The first day of the state visit ended tradition with a festive gala taffel at Christiansborg Castle,” shared the Danish Royal Family alongside a video featuring glimpses from the event.
In the video, Christian can be seen confidently arriving in his gala uniform of the Royal Life Guards.
The uniform features a vibrant scarlet tunic paired with a high light-blue collar and silver bow embroidery, accented by white shoulder epaulettes.
Over the uniform, the future King wore his sky-blue sash for the Order of the Elephant, the Grand Commander’s Cross around his neck, and various insignia stars and medals across his chest.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen hosted the evening held in honour of the Presidential couple. Also at the table was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince together with the Government, the Vietnamese delegation, the Presidium of the People's Parliament and representatives of official Denmark,” shared the palace in the caption.
They noted that at the state banquet, King Frederik and the President delivered speeches.
Frederik stated, "It is a great pleasure for Her Majesty Queen Mary and for me to welcome the Presidential Couple here in Denmark. We are looking forward to your visit and to be able to reciprocate the warmth we experienced when we visited Vietnam. ”
He continued, “Our family has many good memories from Vietnam. My father, Prince Henry, spent the first five years of his life in Hanoi, returning young and bare since Vietnam and the Vietnamese in his heart.”
Crown Prince Christian’s major milestone comes days after he rang in his 21st birthday on October 15, 2026.
