Manuel Otto, a German video game designer and influencer, died at the age of 30 in an apparent suicide while he was livestreaming on Twitch.

Otto was a 14-year-old high school student when he created his most famous game Stick Run, which has been played by ten of millions of people.

His body was found on Tuesday after authorities responded to reports of a fire in an attic room on a property in the Bavarian village of Breitbrunn am Chiemsee.

Confirming the shocking news, the Stick Run team penned on FaceBook, "It is with a heavy heart that we confirm and announce the passing of our creator, developer, and fellow Stick Runner, Marc-Manuel Alexander Otto."

In an earlier post from the team, Otto "appeared to take his own life" in a livestream.

Videos of the livestream later posted online appear to show Otto setting himself on fire.

Meanwhile, a Twitch spokesperson said in an emailed statement that Twitch "moved quickly to remove the channel and Video on Demand (VOD) to prevent it from being viewed by others".

"What took place is horrible, and the mental health and wellbeing of our community matters deeply to us," the spokesperson said. "We encourage anyone who may be struggling to seek support."

Otto launched Stick Run, in which players control a stick figure running through obstacle courses, on Facebook in 2010. It was later made available as an app for Android and Apple.
