To add a sparkling touch to her royal look, Princess Leonor knows where exactly to go.
For the 2026 Princess of Asturias Awards, the future Queen of Spain turned to her grandmother Queen Sofia’s jewelry box, borrowing a sparkling piece for her major style moment.
The event saw Leonor wearing a gorgeous magenta A-line dress, featuring a fitted bodice with boat neckline and a flowing, pleated skirt. She styled her hair in a half-up, half-down style, putting her shimmering jewel on display.
For the special night, Princess Leonor wore a pair of diamond and ruby earrings belonging to her paternal grandma, which perfectly complemented her ensemble, as per Hello!.
The iconic jewelry was gifted to Queen Sofia by a Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos at her wedding with Juan Carlos I in 1962.
According to the outlet, the statement jewelry was crafted by Van Cleef and Arpels – a luxury French high-jewelry, watch and fragrance house founded in 1906.
After her marriage, Sofia has been seen wearing pieces from the set on several major occasions, including the 1975 ascension ceremony of her husband, King Juan Carlos I.
At the Princess of Asturias Awards 2026, Princess Leonor was joined by her grandmother Queen Sofia, parents King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, and younger sister Infanta Sofia.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, October 23, the Spanish Royal Family posted a carousel of glimpses from the event, sharing, “The King and Queen, the Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofía presided over the formal 2026 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo—awards that recognize excellence among individuals and institutions worldwide in the scientific, technical, cultural, social, and humanitarian fields—an event also attended by Queen Sofía.”
The event also saw Leonor delivering a powerful speech.
