King Charles has celebrated his and wife Queen Camilla’s first coronation anniversary with a grand 41-guns salute.

On Monday, May 6, the Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired 41 shots at noon while present in Green Park, right next to the Buckingham Palace.

Then, around an hour later, 62 volleys were sent flying from Tower Wharf by the Honorable Artillery Company.

Both of these military units were also part of the Monarch and Queen Camilla’s coronation ceremony in 2023, where they were charged with the duty to fire guns as soon as the crown was placed on King Charles’ head.

This time, they did something even more interesting.

At 12 pm, six of their guns shot blank rounds with an interval of 10 seconds in between. They kept going until 41 bullets had been fired.

To set the mood right, the Band of the Irish Guards played celebratory music alongside.

A while after midday, three guns made their way to the Tower of London, and on command, 62 bullets were hailed “with each round firing from one of the three guns at 10-second intervals,” as reported by The Standard.
