Zac Brown has entered the legal arena, filing a lawsuit against his estranged wife, Kelly Yazdi, following a controversial Instagram post.
The Free singer filed for a temporary restraining order against Yazdi on Friday, May 17, in Georgia’s Fulton County.
As per the court documents, Brown also alleged that Yazdi, 33, broke an employee confidentiality agreement.
The Zac Brown Band said in a statement, "After much deliberation, I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”
He added, "My only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways."
The temporary restraining order is to force Yazdi to erase the Instagram post.
Yazdi, also a former employee of the Zac Brown Band from August 2022 to February 2024, included a comment on her May 4 post that appears to relate to her connection with Brown.
"Projections. Gaslighting. Threatening. Stonewalling," Yazdi wrote in the post. "Those are the ingredients of narcissistic abuse."
To note, Brown reportedly proposed to Yazdi in 2022, and they were married in Georgia last August.
After four months, they announced the separation in a joint statement saying, “We are in the process of divorce. … We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together.”
