The Sri Lankan government has agreed to repatriate 43 Pakistani citizens who are currently detained in its prisons.
According to the Dawn, this decision comes after an agreement was reached between the two countries to facilitate their return.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a meeting with Sri Lanka's High Commissioner Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne, finalized the agreement on Friday, May 24.
The discussions also touched upon mutual interests and the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Additionally, both sides also pledged to boost cooperation in security and counter-narcotics efforts.
While, Pakistan's Interior Ministry has been collaborating with Sri Lankan authorities for the past month to arrange for the return of the 43 Pakistani prisoners.
However, Naqvi, in a subsequent announcement, assured that arrangements for their repatriation would be concluded within a few days.
He extended gratitude to the Sri Lankan high commissioner for his support in the process.
Moreover, Naqvi emphasised the strong bond between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, stating that their relationship has flourished over the past seven decades.
