Veteran Pakistani actors Nadia Jamil and Adnan Siddiqui have come forward to condemn the horrific incidents of rape and sexual abuse against minors in the country.
Taking to her Twitter, the Damsa famed actress, who has been quite vocal for children safety rights over the time, shared the heart wrenching news of a 10-year-old girl being raped in Karachi. “Yesterday, another little 10-year-old girl was raped,” she shared on Wednesday.
“I appeal to the media of Pakistan to spread awareness campaigns. We need to construct a one-minute public service messages and spread it on radio, TV and print. The threat of rape exists in seminaries, on streets and inside homes,” she wrote, tagging Khan in her post.
While spreading awareness against sexual misconduct, she asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to take strict action against rapists and pedophiles involved in the recent cases of sexual abuse.
Expressing his distress over a rape case that emerged recently, the Meray Paas Tum Ho actor took to the micro-blogging site and wrote, “Absolutely no mercy for this depraved creature. He deserves to burn in Hell! I am feeling sick to the stomach thinking about the sicko’s perversity.” He then tagged the PM asking him to ensure a speedy trial so justice can be served. “Imran Khan, please ensure a speedy trial for swift justice to survivors. #StopRape,” Siddiqui concluded.
In another tweet, Jamil reshared Frieha Altaf’s tweet about the shocking news of busting international child pornography site in Germany, containing 400,000 subscribers, she wrote, “What a sick world we live in. If only we could also crackdown child prostitution rings in Pakistan.” The Behadd actress went on to add, “We should be swooping on them like eagles. @MukarramKaleem tried exposing them in a show. But we need huge movements to get the @GovtofPakistan to act firmly and consistently.”
