Shakira has expressed gratitude to the fans travelling from all across the globe to see her perform in Madrid, sharing photos from the opening night of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour residency at Macondo Park.

Taking to her Instagram account on Saturday, September 19, the Waka Waka songstress shared a slew of photos of her performance on a larger scale in front of thousands of fans, enjoying the concert.

Shakira penned down the caption, “Thanks so much to all my fans who are coming from so many different places to see this show!! That’s why, among other things, I put together a whole city for all of you to enjoy and have the best experience!!"


“Thanks to all my fans who have come from so many places. I hope you enjoyed the citadel I built especially for you!" she added.

The concert marked the beginning of Shakira’s 12-show Madrid residency at Macondo Park, located at the Iberdrola Music venue in the Villaverde area of the Spanish capital. The residency runs from September 18 through October 11.

Macondo Park was created as more than a conventional concert venue, with themed spaces dedicated to music, food, literature, fashion and Shakira’s career. The complex was inspired by Macondo, the fictional town from Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude.

The post attracted thousands of netizens, receiving over 220k likes, and thousands of comments, praising the The Dai Dai hitmaker’s phenomenal performance.

Shakira performed a set spanning her career, including recent hits and older favourites, as she officially began the Madrid leg of her tour.
