As the HBO's super hit television series, the House of the Dragon's third instalment available to stream it left fans divided online.  

The third season of the show – which initially debuted on June 21st has taken a major risk as one of the key character of the series died in the sixth episode of the season.

Notably, the third last episode aired on Sunday, July 26th, marked the death of Ser Criston Cole, who played by Fabien Frankel in House of the Dragon.

The American actor has been killed on the battlefield after leading a suicide mission against the army of Rivermen and Winter Wolves. 

His character has been portrayed by Fabien marked the show as as a charming, low-born knight who wins the heart of Princess Rhaenyra, but transforms into a hypocritical zealot after she rejects his romantic plans. 

Ciston's men were greatly outnumbered, facing down Roddy the Ruin (Tommy Flanagan) and Oscar Tully (Archie Barnes) in the riverlands, when he was shot with an arrow three times, including a shot to the face. 

Fans' reaction on Ser Criston Cole's death 

As the death of Criston aired the shocking twist of the series divided fans online, with many mocked the bravery of Fabien’s character, saying, "I am the realm's greatest warrior and I will die as such.. thud."

"Killed Ser Cole like a coward before charging smh," another bashed.

A third user commented, "Those arrows saved thee lives of The Ruin and Oscar. The acher was smart enough to know Cole would win, nor could the Ruin and Oscar honorably refuse the challenge while having numerical advantage."

"Criston cole is dead, still Bloody ben nowhere to be found.. Smh," a fourth added.

Fabien Frankel teases Se Criston Cole's death 

Before the key role of the show died in the series, Fabien spoke about his character's trajectory, noting,
"It does change as the course of the series goes on – as the third season goes on – it certainly takes turns." 

House of the Dragon – whose season one premiered in 2022 season 3 episode one aired on HBO in June and set to conclude on August 9th of this year.
