Eric Beiniemy’s wife Mia Bieniemy has been shot at their Virginia home; police has arrested their son.
According to The Mirror US, Virginia authorities announced on Monday, July 27, that Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach’s 27-year-old son Elijah Zion Bieniemy was taken into the custody and charged for shooting his mother.
The Loudon County sheriff’s office said deputies responded late Sunday to a shooting in Ashburn. Upon arriving they found the 57-year-old Mia Bieniemy with multiple gunshot wounds, and she was transported to a hospital where she was in stable condition Monday.
Police later charged Eric and Mia’s son Elijah Zion with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, according to the sheriff's office. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
Mia Bieniemy called 911
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman revealed that Mia Bieniemy was the one who called the 911 and reported about the emergency. She told emergency responders about a “domestic disturbance” on the phone call.
Chapman told WJLA that Mia was shot “a couple of times” during the incident, adding. “She had called in, the mother, who we know, had called in the shooting, and it was involving the son, so that’s where we’re at right now.”
The sheriff said that he wasn’t aware of any other incidents that took place “at that particular residence,” and he was not privy to “any prior arrests” related to Elijah.
“We have to go through an entire investigation to find out exactly where everybody was, what everybody did, what prompted it, how it all transpired, but we’re investigating right now,” he added.
Eric has been at the hospital by his wife’s side following the incident and after being with the Chiefs for training camp in Missouri at the time of the shooting.
