Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor remembered late Bollywood icon Sridevi on her 63rd birth anniversary, celebrating her enduring pan-India legacy and lasting impact on Indian cinema.
Taking to Instagram, the Aashiqui 2 star shared the cover of the Indian actress’ biography, Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi, authored by writer and columnist Dhiraj U. Kumarr. The book, published by Westland Books.
Alongside the book cover, Shraddha wrote, “Before it became a buzzword, The Empress actually ruled PAN-INDIA.”
In her caption she also tagged Sridevi’s daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, as well as her husband and filmmaker Boney Kapoor.
Varun Dhawan also joined the tributes, sharing the book on his Instagram handle, describing Sridevi as “The one and only empress.”
Previously, Priyanka Chopra also paid tribute to late Sridevi on her birth anniversary by unveiling her biography, Empress: The Biography of Sridevi.
Sharing the cover, the Citadel star wrote, “The one and only. You are so missed. Happy heavenly birthday #Sridevi #Empress....coming soon.”
Sridevi, a big name of Bollywood, left behind a celebrated filmography that includes Mr. India, Chandni, Lamhe, Sadma, English Vinglish and Mom.
The English Vinglish actress began her career as a child artist at the age of four with the 1967 Tamil film Kandhan Karunai and she made her Bollywood debut with the 1972 film Rani Mera Naam.
Sridevi rose to prominence as one of Indian cinema’s most successful actresses, enjoying major box-office hits during the 1980s and 1990s.
She married filmmaker Boney Kapoor in 1996, and they later welcomed daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, who both followed her into acting.
Sridevi died on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As per the reports, her official cause of death was revealed as accidental drowning in a bathtub following a loss of consciousness
Sridevi’s celebrated career brought her numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri, which she received in 2013.
