Eight-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Von Miller has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys completing a major homecoming for the future Hall of Famer heading into his 15th NFL season.
A major homecoming move
The 37-year-old veteran grew up near Dallas in DeSoto, Texas and starred at Texas A&M before becoming an elite edge defender.
Miller confirmed the long-awaited move on social media by posting a photo of himself in a Cowboys uniform writing “Dallas! Let’s make this one Special” as he prepares to play for his childhood region.
Strong on-field production
Despite his veteran status, Miller proved he can still deliver top-tier pressure.
Playing for the Washington Commanders last season, he recorded nine sacks across 17 games in a rotational pass-rushing role. He leads all active NFL players with 138.5 career sacks sitting ninth on the all-time list.
Chasing NFL history
Joining Dallas places Miller just four sacks away from climbing past legends like Terrell Suggs, Jason Taylor and Michael Strahan into sixth place on the all-time sack leaderboard.
The two-time Super Bowl champion also holds 10.5 playoff sacks, the most among active defenders.
A key defensive role
Dallas expects Miller to serve as a high-impact situational pass rusher and mentor for younger talent. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker noted that the defense aims to be “responsible for stopping the run and affecting the quarterback and we’ll be able to do that” with veteran depth like Miller added to the rotation.
