WhatsApp has introduced the latest chat theme update for iOS, offering iPhone users more ways to personalise the appearance of their conversations.
The significant update launches five categories such as one with animated wallpapers.
Five new chat theme categories
The Meta-owned WhatsApp’s updated theme picker now includes Nature, Live, Featured, Minimal and Doodle categories.
The Featured section underscores themes curated by the company’s design team, while Nature offers wallpapers featuring landscapes, mountains, forests, and oceans.
The Live category is said to be the most significant addition, providing slowly animated wallpapers. A Live icon seems on supported themes, making them easy to detect.
WhatsApp has kept the animations subtle to prevent distracting users while reading messages.
Minimal and doodle themes
The minimal category is particularly designed for users who prefer a cleaner interface. These themes use plain backgrounds without animations and patterns, with darker options based on the device’s appearance settings.
Meanwhile, Doodle themes bring back WhatsApp’s familiar classic wallpaper pattern, providing a recognizable look for users who prefer the app’s traditional design.
Automatic bubble colours
Moreover, WhatsApp automatically chooses the chat bubble colour for every theme. The major goal is to maintain sufficient contrast between wallpapers and messages, keeping text easy to read.
Users can still manually change the bubble color if they prefer a different appearance.
Availability
WhatsApp has already kicked off releasing the new themes to select users, with broader roll out expected in the near future,
