King Carl Gustaf and the Crown Princess Victoria hosted a key engagement after the tragic school incident.
On Monday, August 31st, His Majesty exclusively met the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, strengthening the ties between the two countries.
According to media reports, the meeting took place in Princess Sibylla's Apartment for bilateral talks focusing on defence cooperation between Sweden and France.
The French politician is in Sweden reportedly to sign a €4.3 billion contract for Stockholm's acquisition of four French frigates.
His trip will also provide the French president with an opportunity to discuss broader concerns about European security and NATO cooperation with Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
Speaking about the deal, the Swedish politician said, "One of the most significant Swedish defence investments since the introduction of the Gripen fighter jet in the 1980s."
Before this, Macron and his wife, Lady Brigitte Macron, toured Sweden and stayed at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, featuring an inspection of the Grenadier Guards and the playing of national anthems.

King Carl and Macron travelled to Lund to visit the Alfa Laval industrial site, highlighting green technology, fossil-free steel initiatives, and energy transition collaborations.
The visit reinforced historical diplomatic ties, cultural exchanges, and joint research ventures between France and Sweden.
This update came after King Carl Gustaf and his wife, Queen Silvia, attended a solemn gathering at the 2026 Fagresta to remember the victims of the school attack.
On August 21, 2026, a devastating sword attack occurred at Brinellskolan (Brinell High School) in the central Swedish town of Fagersta, resulting in one death and three injuries.
Later, Their Majesties paid heartfelt tribute to the school's victims.
