King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have shared a big update about their daughter.

Taking to the official Instagram handle of the Dutch Royal Family on Monday, August 31, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam announced about Princess Ariane’s future plans.

They shared that the third and youngest daughter of the King and Queen has kicked off her new education venture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) where she has been enrolled in an exciting field.

‘Princess Ariane begins her studies in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). The Princess's time as a student is considered private,” the palace captioned.

Who is Princess Ariane?

Born on April 10, 2007, Princess Ariane, who holds the title Princess of Orange-Nassau, is the third and youngest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.

She is a member of the Dutch royal house and currently third in the line of succession to the Dutch throne.

Dutch Royal Family mourns ‘deeply saddening’ loss

Princess Ariane’s major update comes days after the Dutch Royal Family marked a period of mourning, grieving over the death of King Harald V of Norway.

In a statement released by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima, and Princess Beatrix, it was stated, “We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. We will always carry the memory of our special friendship with him in our hearts.”

“King Harald served his country with love, pride and dedication. The times we spent together exploring Oslo and further north were truly unforgettable. We are thankful, too, for how he embraced the Netherlands and the Dutch people,” they continued.

The statement added, “At this sad time our thoughts are with Queen Sonja, the Norwegian royal family and the Norwegian people. King Harald will be remembered for his capacity for friendship and bringing people together. Takk for alt. – King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix.”

King Harald V’s death

On Friday, August 28, the Royal Palace in Oslo announced a heartbreaking news, sharing that King Harald V passed away peacefully at 6:35 a.m. local time at the National Hospital in Oslo.

His son Prince Haakon, daughter-in-law Princess Mette-Marit and mother Queen Sonja besides other members of the Royal Family were said to be by Harald V's bedside after confirming that he was in an "extremely serious" condition.
