Shalini Pandey has become a victim of Artificial Intelligence.
As the menace of deepfake videos has increasingly been growing, another Bollywood actress fell prey to the controversy.
However, the discouraging move has reportedly not shattered the confidence of Shalini, as she took a firm stand for herself and gathered courage to speak up against the deepfake mishap.
"I want to address a fake, AI-generated video of me that is currently being circulated online. The video is completely fabricated and does not depict me," the Maharaj star added.
Shalini continued, "It is deeply disturbing to see technology being misused in this way to target and harm individuals, especially women. I strongly condemn this kind of abuse and believe such misuse of technology should never be normalised."

Notably, the Arjun Reddy starlet expressed her utter disappointment, while urging her fans to curb the spread of the obscene footage of herself.
"If you come across this video, please do not share, forward, download, or engage with it. Instead, please report it immediately. I request everyone to be responsible and mindful, and help stop its circulation rather than giving it further reach. Thank you!" the rising Indian actress added.
How many celebrities have became the victims of deepfake videos in India?
In addition to Shalini Pandey, several leading figures in the Indian film industry have publicly spoken out or filed complaints after being targeted, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Kajol, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nora Fatehi, Deepika Padukone, Sai Pallavi, and Rukmini Vasanth.
However, more than a dozen prominent Indian actors have individually approached courts to secure legal protection for their voice, image, and likeness against AI-generated deepfakes and cloning.
Previously, Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have filed comprehensive lawsuits at the Delhi High Court targeting explicit AI manipulations and unauthorised digital likenesses.

Well, despite the deepfake controversy, Shalini Pandey is set to share the big screen with Vicky Kaushal's younger brother, Sunny Kaushal, in a project backed by Tips Films.
