Recently, the 36-year-old appeared in Los Angeles with her newly darkened hair while heading to Warner Bros. studios.
Styled sleek, glossy and straight, the look retained her signature bangs while giving her overall appearance a noticeably darker finish.

Johnson has experimented with various shades over the years, from chestnut and caramel to a “dirty blonde” look. Her latest transformation, however, takes her brunette roots in a deeper direction just as autumn’s beauty trends begin shifting toward richer tones.
Celebrity colourist Tracey Cunningham, who has previously worked along with Johnson and some highly famous stars, including Emma Stone and Julia Garner, created the new look.
Cunningham described the shade as “glossed espresso,” which is particularly designed to appear rich and dimensional without looking completely black.
“I wanted this to feel like a true dark brown – rich, glossy and dimensional,” Cunningham explained, mentioning that she layered different tones to create depth and a seamless finish.
The colour was accomplished using several tones of Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Vibrance. Cunningham applied the shades while Johnson’s hair was wet, blending them through multiple sections to get a glowy and high-shine effect.
The major transformation comes at the perfect time for seasonal shift. As summer’s lighter blondes and brighter shades give way to autumn-inspired colours, deeper browns, roasted caramel and cherry-inspired tones are expected to dominate.
Johnson’s “glossed espresso” provides a sophisticated take on the trend, proving that darker hair can still have plenty of dimension, movement and shine.
