Malachi Toney has set a brand new record with Miami Hurricane!
The 18-year-old marked a new Hurricane single-game record with 234 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a 45-6 over Stanford Cardinal on Friday, September 4, 2026.
A four-decade record broken
Malachi broke the 42 years old record previously held by Eddie Brown, who had bagged 220 receiving yards against Boston College in 1984.
Malachi finished the game with 12 receptions, including a 47-yard touchdown in the third quarter that sealed the historic milestone.
Head Coach breaks silence after Malachi Toney's milestone
Reacting to the milestone, head coach Mario Cristobal noted, "What he does and his approach to life, to his teammates, to his craft, this, this guy is a very different level."
"And we've had some really different level guys go through the program, but this guy's cranking it up even more and there's no governor on him. It's just full throttle all the time. We knew he was going to be better. He gained about 10, 12 pounds of muscle, so his accels, decels, in and out of breaks, all that stuff is better, and he didn't even want come out of the game. We're blessed to have him," he added.
Malachi Toney's previous career-high
Malachi Toney's previous career-high was 146 yards against Virginia Tech last year. He surpassed his own record in the first half with 182 yards on 10 catches.
Malachi Toney eyeing the Heisman Trophy
With the impressive performance, Malachi is eyeing to take home the Hurricanes' first Heisman Trophy since 1992.
The Heisman Memorial Trophy is awarded every year to the most outstanding player in American college football.
