Apple brings biggest iPhone redesign in years with iPhone Duo

Apple has officially released its ultra-thin folding handset, iPhone Duo, at a “Surprise and Shine” event today, September 9, 2026, at its Cupertino, California, headquarters.

The significant launch has sparked excitement among users, marking Apple’s first entry into the foldable smartphone market. The company’s move represents one of the biggest design changes to the iPhone in years.

Notably, the event marks the first major Apple keynote under new CEO John Ternus, who assumed the role of Tim Cook on September 1.

iPhone Duo specs

Apple’s recently introduced iPhone Duo comes with a variety of advanced features that capture tremendous attraction from users globally. The foldable handset features a 7.6-inch internal display, which Apple says is its largest and most immersive iPhone screen yet. It also has a 5.4-inch outer display for use when the phone is folded.

The device is designed to be exceptionally thin and unfolds into a tablet-like form. Apple has also introduced Split View, allowing users to run two different apps side by side and drag items between them.

Apple’s foldable iPhone price and availability

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Pre-orders begin October 16, while the device will start shipping and become available on October 23, 2026.
