Manchester United have been rocked by a major internal shock after 15-year-old academy sensation JJ Gabriel formally requested to leave the club and cancel his registration.
Dubbed “Kid Messi” for his incredible skill, the highly-rated winger dropped a bombshell by refusing to train with the first team on Tuesday.
Missed record debut
The timing of Gabriel’s exit request has left Old Trafford chiefs completely stunned. Management had planned to include the prodigy in the squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Brighton.
Had he featured, Gabriel would have officially become the youngest player in Manchester United’s history to make a senior appearance. Instead, his decision not to report for training has ruled him out of making his record-breaking debut.

The sudden move follows Gabriel removing all references to Manchester United from his social media accounts shortly after scoring a hat-trick in the UEFA Youth League. Top European clubs are now closely monitoring his situation.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea are long-time admirers of the teenager with Barcelona heavily pursuing his signature. Because Gabriel holds an Irish passport through his family, he could potentially complete a transfer abroad when he turns 16 next month.
Contract standoff at Old Trafford
Under FA regulations, Gabriel remains registered with Manchester United until the end of the season and the club maintains his request cannot be automatically granted.
