Prince William has shared a heartwarming message on Prince Harry’s special day.
After concluding his engagement in Princetown, Dartmoor, the Prince of Wales took to his and Kate Middleton’s joint Instagram handle on Tuesday, September 15, to express joy following his meeting with the village’s residents, businesses, and organisations.
Alongside a carousel of glimpses from the day, the future King proudly shared, “A new £250,000 community-led fund for Princetown. The Princetown Community Fund will support local projects creating opportunities, strengthening the community and enhancing the environment.”
“Great to meet residents, businesses and organisations shaping the village’s future, from Gather & Moor to the local Youth Club. The fund forms part of the Duchy of Cornwall’s wider commitment to invest more than £500m over the next decade in communities, homes, local economies, farming resilience and environmental recovery,” he added.
The fund will be redirected from the rental income from Dartmoor Prison, following a decision by William to stop personally taking the £1.5 million annual rent generated by the property lease.
The Category C prison has remained empty since July 2024 after high levels of radon were discovered in the prisoners’ living areas.
During the visit, Prince William also visited the new Gather & Moor community hub and used a historic letterpress to print a broadsheet marking the occasion.
Prince Harry marks his 42nd birthday
Prince William’s visit to Princetown and his message following the trip came on the same day his younger brother, Prince Harry, rang in his 42nd birthday.
Despite living in the same city, the brothers have not yet met following the Duke of Sussex’s return to the UK on August 26, 2026.
Their estrangement dates back to 2020 when Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle, decided to step down from his position as senior working royal and relocated to California, US.
