Tom Cruise has given creators a reality check as he addressed the impact of AI on Hollywood.
During his appearance at a BAFTA: Life in Pictures event on Monday, September 22, Tom opened up about his Hollywood career and how AI is going to affect cinema experience in the coming years.
Host Edith Bowman asked the Mission: Impossible hit maker about his take on AI taking over creative fields.
To which Tom responded, "There is nothing like human" without directly addressing the downsides of AI, The Firm actor highlighted this summer’s box office earnings, which smashed records by grossing $4.76 billion from May 1 to Labor Day.
"People want that experience. They’re going to movie theaters," Tom noted, adding, "I always believe in humanity."
Concluding his argument on an emotional note, Tom urged that in the face of AI, creatives must “keep creating.”
"You know, it is coming and it’s going to happen," Tom said about impact of AI, adding, "But people want to see real things."
This came just days after Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance at Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's podcast New Heights, where he dished the details of his encounter with Taylor Swift at a football match.
