Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, subsequent treatment and then recovery are believed to have changed her life for the better.

The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024 and underwent a preventive chemotherapy for nine months before getting into remission, a period she herself referred to as a “roller-coaster’.

Catherine’s cancer recovery journey has been exemplary for other cancer patients and survivors as she has been candidly sharing about activities which helped the future Queen coping up with the treatment.

Cancer treatment can have adverse effects on your physical health and cognitive abilities, which can lead to losing focus.

Kate also faced a similar challenge while undergoing cancer treatment as she revealed during her visit to the Christie cancer care hospital in June.

Speaking to the patients at the time, Kate revealed, “I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have the ability to read or really focus on anything.”

“[Coloring] was my way of exploring interesting things and being able to do something that did not require an end product, or an end finished piece,” she noted, adding, “[It was] just a way of playing and losing yourself.”

Acupuncture

As per The Telegraph, during her visit to Colchester Hospital to see the center's Wellbeing Garden in July, Kate candidly revealed about trying acupuncture in her conversation with therapist Amanda Green.

During the same visit, Prince William’s wife admitted that "What seems to be really fantastic is that there is a real personal approach: what helps one person – acupuncture or something – might not help another."

What is acupuncture?

It is a traditional Chinese treatment, in which thin needles are inserted at strategic points across the body to cure pain.

Connecting with nature

One of the most emphasized recommendations from the mother of three is spending time in nature to keep your physical and mental health intact during cancer treatment.

In a video shared to mark Mental Health Awareness Week in May, Kate noted that “we are celebrating humanity’s longstanding connection to nature, and its capacity to inspire us and help us to heal and grow in mind, body and spirit.”

She continued, “As we confront the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital world, the importance of the connection between humanity and nature takes on even more significance.”

“The Mother Nature series is a reminder and reflection of the beauty and complexity of the human experience. It is a tribute to the lessons we can learn from nature, helping us to foster our own growth, strengthen our bonds with the world around us and each other,” concluded the Princess.

Hiking, gardening and socializing

Kate Middleton once again impressed Royal enthusiasts with her adventurous streak in June when she completed a Three-Peak Challenge to raise money for a cancer charity.

Taking to her official Instagram account Kate shared a beaming photo of her with a message that read, "Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare."

She continued, "Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis."

Linking her Three-Peak challenge with her holistic approach for recovery from cancer, Kate explained how "Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients’ ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time."
