Netanyahu justifies military action in Gaza during US Congress address

Israeli prime minister denies famine and civilian killings in Gaza

Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel’s war in Gaza during his address to the US Congress on Wednesday, July 24.

According to BBC, the Israeli prime minister, who received a standing ovation from the US lawmakers, said, “Our enemies are your enemies. When we fight Iran, we're fighting the most radical and murderous enemy of the United States of America. Our fight is your fight, and our victory will be your victory.”

He also denies civilian mass killing and famine in Gaza. Netanyahu claimed, “The ICC prosecutor accuses Israel of deliberately targeting civilians. What in God’s green earth is he talking about? The IDF just dropped millions of flyers, sent millions of text messages, and made hundreds of thousands of phone calls to get Palestinian civilians out of harm’s way.”

The 74-year-old further added, “The prosecutor of the international criminal court has shamefully accused Israel of deliberately starving the people of Gaza. This is utter, complete nonsense. It’s a complete fabrication. Israel has enabled more than 40,000 aid trucks to enter Gaza. That’s half a million tons of food!”

Meanwhile, according to the United Nations, 20% of the population in Gaza is facing extreme levels of hunger, and 30% of the children are too thin for their height.
