In a tragic incident on Saturday, an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza, which was housing displaced people, resulted in the deaths of at least 30 Palestinians.

Health officials in Gaza reported that the attack took place in Deir Al-Balah, and among the dead were 15 children and eight women. Over 100 people were injured in the strike.

The Israeli military stated that the airstrike targeted militants who were using the school compound for operations. They mentioned efforts were made to minimize civilian casualties.

Ambulances hurriedly transported the wounded to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, while some injured individuals arrived on foot, their clothes soaked in blood.

The walls of the school were heavily damaged, and nearby cars were destroyed.

Israel claims that Hamas uses civilian areas, including schools and hospitals, to shield their operations, a claim that Hamas denies.

"Hamas terrorists used the (school) compound as a hiding place to direct and plan numerous attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel. In parallel, the terrorists developed and stored large quantities of weapons inside the compound," the military said in a statement.
