
Pakistan’s legendary dramatist, playwright and scriptwriter Haseena Moin passed away on Friday, due to a cardiac arrest in Karachi.
The acclaimed dramatist, who was 79, had penned iconic dramas and presented strong and empowered women characters on screena. Some of her notable scripts includes Ankahi, Tanhaiyaan, Kiran Kahani, Dhoop Kinaray, Aahat, Uncle Urfi and Shehzori.
She is being mourned by Urdu literature enthusiasts, fans and celebrities, as they turned to social media to extend condolences.
Prominent Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed took to Twitter and prayed for the departed soul. Expressing his grief, Saeed wrote, “Haseena apa's invaluable contribution to our drama industry helped pave the way for many. Not only was she a great writer but a woman of great strength who continued to mentor us till her last breath. May she rest in eternal peace.”
Acclaimed Pakistani dramatist and short-story writer Noor ul Huda Shah also penned an emotional tribute for the late writer.
Pride of Performance recipient, veteran actress Sakina Samo shared her thoughts for the legendary writer. Taking to her Instagram account, Samo wrote, “My Haseena Moeena (as i used to call her, she used to giggle in return) is gone. Gone is the saddest word in any language. May her soul rest in peace . Ameen.”
She continued, “She left a beautiful legacy behind her. We will be revisiting her beautiful dramas from time to time. Her world was a happy world like her dramas. Haseena Moeena I loved you and I loved your dramas. Till today I still regret not having done your Dhoop Kinarey. I am sorry I could not. Farewell my dear Haseena.”
Superstar Mahira Khan also extended her prayers for Moin. Taking to her Instagram, the Raees actress shared short video clips from Moin’s dramas and wrote in the caption, “These words, those characters... there will never be another like Haseena Moin Sahiba. You shall live for generations to come.. through your service to this nation and our industry.”
Other celebrities including, Imran Abbas, Amna Ilyas, Nimra Bucha, Mehreen Jabbar, Atiqa Odho, Sania Saeed, Adeel Hussain and Adnan Siddiqui expressed their thoughts and grief over the loss of Pakistan’s iconic writer.
