As the spy action Dhurandhar 2 continues to dominate the big screens, horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla needs to take a back seat once again.
On Thursday, April 2, Pinkvilla reported that Akshay Kumar's anticipated new film has yet again been forced to push back its release date due to the whirlwind success of Ranveer Singh's blockbuster movie.
In the past few months, the makers of Kumar led movie have rescheduled the launch multiple times in order to avoid the box office clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
As per the latest report, Bhooth Bangla, whose release date has already been rescheduled three times and was last announced to launch on April 10, will now hit the big screens on April 17, 2026.
According to a source, “The distribution head of Jio Studios, Deepak Sharma, has told the multiplexes to pull back the KDM of Dhurandhar 2 in the fourth week if they don't promise 10,000 shows to the film in the release week of Bhooth Bangla.”
"He has taken this in writing from the exhibitors, and given the historic run, no one was willing to take the risk of missing out on a single penny of Dhurandhar 2," added the insider.
The horror-comedy film was initially supposed to release on April 2, before being postponed to May 15, and later preponed to April 10.
However, this time, the makers have brought a twist to their plan, announcing paid preview shows for April 16, 2026.
This strategic move is expected to minimize the impact of competition from Dhurandhar 2, especially when compared to the earlier planned release date.
Notably, two weeks since its release, Dhurandhar 2 has already secured the fourth spot in the list of highest grossing Indian films of all time.
