Selena Gomez is set to make her directorial debut as Wizards Beyond Waverly Place wraps up with its third and final season.

As per Variety, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will end with its third season this summer on Disney+ and Disney Channel, the Only Murder In The Building star returns as Alex Russo and makes her directorial debut, helming the premiere episode.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place features David Henrie as Justin Russo, Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Max Matenko as Milo Russo, Taylor Cora as Winter, and Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo.

According to the season 3 logline, “Billie, still reeling from losing Alex at the end of Season 2, discovers that the only way to rescue her mother is to reunite with her long-lost father. As her family bands together to find Alex, Billie realizes that their combined power is the only way the Russos can defeat the evil plaguing them.”

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas served as writers and executive producers for the revival, with Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Rick Williams, Selena Gomez, and David Henrie also credited as EPs.

Notably, the original Wizards of Waverly Place was created by Todd Greenwald.

The original series aired on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012, following the Russo siblings balancing adolescence and magic, launching Selena Gomez to stardom.

The revival has also been a hit, amassing over 101 million views on Disney Channel’s YouTube.
