Ektaa Kapoor is taking her hugely popular Naagin franchise from television to the big screen, with Balaji Telefilms exploring a feature-film adaptation of the supernatural series.
The Indian television and film producer has confirmed that her popular supernatural franchise Naagin is heading to the big screen.
Announced on Nag Panchami, the film is currently in development.
The announcement came on August 17, when Ektaa shared a cryptic social media post wishing fans on Nag Panchami and teasing that “something exciting” was on the way.
She later confirmed that Naagin would not return to television in its current format, instead hinting at a big-screen adaptation.
The franchise has cemented its place as one of Indian TV’s best-known supernatural shows since launching in 2015.
Produced by Balaji Telefilms, Naagin blends stories of shape-shifting serpents with revenge, romance, family drama and supernatural powers.
The long-running franchise has featured various lead actors across its seasons while maintaining a loyal fan base.
Although the film is officially in the works, key details including its cast, director, plot and release date are still unknown.
