Jacob Elordi has landed a new title amid growing romance rumors with Kendall Jenner.
While conversing with PEOPLE, the Gladiator filmmaker said, “Jacob’s kind of a farm boy,” before adding, “He can drive. He got onto that lawnmower tractor, just started the engine, started working it. Nobody told him how.”
Elordi also brought another unexpected talent to the set, working closely with several dogs who played a key role in the story.
“There were three: One dog was an attack dog, one was a dog that was playful and one dog that would sit in the cockpit so that they’re all the same dog,” Scott explained.
The director also praised Elordi for handling the dogs so naturally.
“He was so nice to the dog,” shared Scott, before saying, “But he was great with all of them and had that command of the animals as well.”
That bond was crucial to Scott, as Hig’s relationship with his dog Jasper sits at the center of the story. After a deadly pandemic, Jasper represents one of the last links to Hig’s former life.
“Because Hig would talk to his dog, which was really his friend,” Scott said, adding “His dog had been a puppy to his wife.”
“The dog really was his connection and linked with his wife. It was beautiful,” Scott mentioned.
Scott said Elordi’s mix of toughness and tenderness was ideal for The Dog Stars, giving the actor a chance to show a quieter strength.
The pair quickly clicked on the set.
Despite his quick filming style, Scott is heavily prepared and gives actors confidence while leaving room for their creative input.
The Dog Stars set to hit the theaters on Friday, August 28.
Notably, Elordi got the praises amid the budding romance with Kendal Jenner as they are officially dating and were recently spotted holding hands during a romantic date night in London.
