The Used to Be Young hitmaker - who is reeling with the death of her godmother, Dolly, shocked everyone with her unexpected move over the weekend.
Billy's daughter changed her name on Instagram from Miley Cyrus to only Miley, leaving her dad, "deeply hurt", per the inside sources.
Just days after Miley's shocking snub to her family, insiders close to the singer's family exclusively told Rob Shuter that “Billy is deeply hurt.”
They went on to explain that, “He’s incredibly proud that Miley has become bigger than the Cyrus name. But he gave his daughter that name."
"Watching her publicly decide she doesn’t need it anymore feels like she’s leaving a piece of him behind," added the source.
This inside story came following the Old Town Red hitmaker’s Instagram post, which he shared after Miley changed her IG username.
“I always called my little girl Miley. Just… Miley. Just like I always called my little boy Braison” Billy wrote in the post.
“I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinkin’ about it more and more… Elvis… Prince… and so on. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues! Looking forward to the new album,” he added.
