King Frederik X is all set to make his mark in iconic gallery with a new royal portrait.
Amalienborg Palace took to the official Instagram account of the Danish Royal Family on Thursday, September 3, to share that the monarch has modeled for artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, who has been working on his landmark portrait for two years.
The new artwork, which is set to be unveiled this month, will be placed in the Hall of Honour at Frederiksborg, marking the Carlsbery Foundation’s milestone 150th anniversary.
For those unfamiliar, the Hall of Honour is a grand ceremonial room at Frederiksborg Castle, which displays portraits and other artworks connected to Denmark’s monarchy.
It also features portraits of earlier Danish monarchs from the Glücksborg royal family, serving as a historic gallery celebrating Denmark’s royal heritage.
“Over the past two years, artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen has been working on a new portrait of His Majesty the King, which will be unveiled in the Hall of Honour at Frederiksborg in connection with the Carlsberg Foundation's 150th anniversary dinner, which will be held at the palace on 25 September,” shared the palace.
It noted, “The King has visited the artist's studio on several occasions along the way and has also modeled for Cathrine Raben Davidsen as part of the process. Here the King is seen in the artist's studio in the spring of 2026, when the portrait was still in preparation, and the King thus sees a preliminary stage of the finished work.”
“The portrait will now hang in the Hall of Honour alongside the portraits of the other rulers of the Glücksborg royal family, from Christian IX to the present day,” the statement concluded.
