Apple is gearing up for the major launch event of the year, with reports emerging regarding the pricing of the highly-anticipated iPhone 18 model.
A recent report suggested that Apple could significantly raise the prices of its forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
As per TrendForce, the iPhone 18 Pro might be accessible in $1,249 and $1,299, in contrast to the $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be priced at $1,349 and $1,399, up from $1,199 for the previous generation.
This represents a potential increase of $150 to $200 for both Pro models.
Memory costs driving price hikes
The expected price raise is largely associated with increasing costs. TrendForce estimates that the price of a 256GB memory chip has increased by nearly 400% year over year.
The research firm also projected that the overall bill of materials for a 256GB Pro model has seen a sharp rise by nearly 38% in contrast to last year.
The Cupertino-based tech giant may absorb part of these increased costs via reduced profit margins in contrast to passing the entire increase to customers.
The growing demand for memory from the global AI infrastructure boom has contributed to increased costs across the electronics industry.
Foldable iPhone could cost over $2,000
A report suggested Apple’s first foldable iPhone could be even more expensive. TrendForce expects its initial price to fall between $2,099 and $2,299, while the highest-storage version could possibly surpass $3000.
The standard iPhone 18 is not expected until spring 2027, but TrendForce predicts it could also face a similar 10% to 20% price increase.
Apple is expected to reveal the official prices during its “Surprise and shine” event on September 9, when the company is also expected to unveil the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
