King Charles III is deeply touched by his life partner, Queen Camilla's surprise gesture at the Royal Festival Hall.
On Friday, September 4th, Her Majesty made an expected appearance in London, where she delivered a remarkable speech, honouring her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother.
During her solo yet powerful outing, Camilla, 79, the United Kingdom's current consort, read a "historic" letter written by His Majesty's deceased mother.
Shortly after she took centre stage, King Charles' office shared the key highlight from the event, as the Palace's aides noted, "This evening, The Queen made a surprise appearance at the Royal Festival Hall in London."
"Reading a historic letter written by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, as part of 'Letters Live," the statement added.
Sharing the backstage image of Her Majesty, the Royal Family's official Instagram account hailed the Queen before she took centre stage and showed her dedication in fulfilling her patron duties.
"Ready to take to the stage… This evening, Her Majesty appeared in front of an unsuspecting audience at the Royal Festival Hall, as part of 'Letters Live'. Each show features a different set of performers, who in turn read extraordinary letters written over the centuries and from around the world," the Buckingham Palace remarked.

Describing what the Letters Live event is, His Majesty's aides explained that it is "a live celebration of the enduring power of literary correspondence. Each show always features a completely different array of great performers."

A look at Queen Camilla's long standing duty as patron
Her Majesty is having served as the long-standing patron of the National Literacy Trust since November 2010, when she was Duchess of Cornwall.
She has been actively championing childhood reading and literacy programs across the United Kingdom, also recently helped launch the National Year of Reading 2026 and announced a national book-gifting initiative for Year 6 students.
