Meghan Markle is reportedly bracing up for a new fallout after her shocking admission amid dad, Thomas Markle’s investigation over allegations of keeping “child sexual abuse” content.
In a shocking turn of events on Thursday, October 23, The Duchess of Sussex issued an official statement to address fresh bombshell allegations made by her half-brother Thomas Jr. – who had reported their father to the Philippines authorities for having “hundreds, if not thousands” of photos and videos of child sexual abuse in hard drives of his computer and different electronic devices.
Meghan in her statement to Sky News expressed, “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
She continued, “In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me. It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.”
The wife of Prince Harry – who has not been in contact with her dad since 2018, further noted, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” she added.
“Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children,” noted the Duchess before closing her statement.
Now sources close to the former Suits actress are claiming that she can be dragged into the ongoing probe against her father as she has admitted about knowing her father’s acts.
"The fact Meghan has acknowledged receiving information about earlier allegations could make her relevant to investigators trying to establish what was known and when,” an insider told RadarOnline.
They clarified, “That does not mean she has evidence of wrongdoing, but they may want to understand precisely what the letter contained and what assurances she was subsequently given, and could lead to her being questioned, or even to give evidence in a court case if her father is pulled up in front of the courts.”
"This places Meghan in an extraordinarily uncomfortable position. She has been estranged from her father for years, yet allegations concerning him have now resurfaced in circumstances that could potentially draw her into a criminal investigation,” added the insider.
The source further explained that "There is a significant difference between being mentioned in connection with an investigation and actually being required to give evidence.”
“Investigators would first need to establish whether Meghan possesses information relevant to the allegations. But it is highly likely as his daughter she could be cross-examined if this reaches the court,” they added.
Thomas Markle Sr. denies his son's allegations against him in scathing statement
Responding to the claims of keeping stashes of child pornographic content in his possession, Thomas Sr. issued an official statement to Daily Mail, in which he noted, "I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of."
"This is bulls---. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies," he added.
