Prince William is set to represent King Charles III alongside key royal member to attend high-stakes funeral ceremony of late King Harald V.
As the official announcement has been made by the Norwegian royal family about the mass funeral service of the oldest monarch of the world, it has been speculated who will travel to Norway, Oslo, from the British Royal Family.
The rumours have been emerged previously that the Prince of Wales might be the one, who will attend the event, due to their remarkably close and warm relationship rooted in deep family ties.
Now, putting the rumours end with the surprise announcement that the next heir to the British throne is set to make a joint appearance alongside his aunt and His Majesty’s younger sister, Princess Anne, who is also a godmother to Norway’s new monarch, King Haakon VIII.
For those unaware, King Charles III's cousin, late Harald died at the age of 89 on August 28th, just one day before he celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife, Queen Sonja.
King Harald V's funeral
After King Haakon VIII quietly took an oath, the monarch is set to commemorate the funeral service, in which large crowd is expected to attend on Wednesday, September 9th, at Oslo Cathedral, with mourners including his widow.
At the time of late King's death, King Charles paid a somber tribute on his official Instagram account, stating, "It is with deepest sorrow that my wife and I have received the news of the death of my dear cousin, King Harald V of Norway."
"For thirty-five years, King Harald served his people with unwavering dedication and led Norway through times of major changes with warmth and humility. As Norway mourns the loss of such a devastating figure, my entire family joins in the memory of a much-loved relative and friend, whose kindness, compassion and deep sense of duty resonated across the seas and through the decades," the statement read.
The 78-year-old British monarch also highlighted his close ties with the Norwegian monarch, as both monarchs are the second cousins.
