B2K member Raz B and his wife, Mona Li, are currently grieving the unexpected death of their 3-month-old son, Astro Monte Thornton.
David Robinson, a publicist for the Thornton family and spokesperson for the couple, confirmed the news in a statement shared with PEOPLE, the entire family is undergoing unbearable pain from the loss of their recently born kid and requested for some privacy to cope up with this loss.
The statement read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De’Mario ‘Raz B’ Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K,” the statement said. “The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time and appreciates your love and support in advance.”
Notably, Astro's cause of death remains under wraps.
Raz B, whose real name is De’Mario Monte Thornton, and Li welcomed Astro in May. The couple had announced a joyful news of an addition of a new family member in a joint Instagram post, describing him as the newest addition to the Thornton family.
For those unaware, the adorable pair also share a son, Versai Carter Thornton, whom they welcomed in October 2024. Li is also a mother to an older daughter from a previous relationship.
Ahead of Astro’s birth, Li shared her pregnancy journey on Instagram in April while celebrating Raz B’s Boys 4 Life Tour.
In May, the couple shared an adorable family photo from the hospital while preparing to welcome Astro. They later posted photos of their baby boy on Father’s Day, with Raz B and Li smiling alongside their two sons.
The family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss of their young son.
