After returning to the United Kingdom with his life partner and two kids, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, the Duke of Sussex has made a special request for the most popular "revenge" dress of his deceased mother, Princess Diana.

Recently, the iconic outfit – which has a history of shattering the records of the media outlets in June 1994- is now being put up for auction at Sotheby's in New York City.
However, insiders close to the youngest son of King Charles III and late Princess Diana have revealed that the estranged royal member "believed" his wife is the one "who must own the gown."
"Harry sees that dress as a symbol of his mother taking back her power; Diana wore it to clap back at Charles, Camilla and an institution that had made her miserable. In Harry's mind, Meghan understands that story better than almost anyone," the tipster claimed.
The source further shared that Harry – who returned to British soil after nearly six years with his family before his mom’s 29th death anniversary- "doesn't want it disappearing into a collector's closet."
"He believes it should stay connected to Diana — and belong to Meghan. To Harry, Meghan wearing or simply owning Diana’s revenge dress would be incredibly powerful," the insider remarked.
Why is Princess Diana's dress called "revenge"?
For context, Princess Diana captivated millions of hearts in June 1994, when she stepped out to attend the Vanity Fair gala shortly after then Prince of Wales, King Charles III, publicly admitted to being unfaithful to Diana during their marriage.
The dress is a custom dress by the Greek fashion designer Christina Stambolian, consisting of a bold off-the-shoulder black silk.
However, despite the bold confession of His Majesty at the time, Diana dominated the headlines with her "revenge" dress, overshadowing Charles.
Now, her rebellious son, who has once again ignited the cold war with his cancer-stricken father after he declared him and his wife as "private citizens," Harry has turned a blind eye to the vulgar acts of his wife, as he believed the dress should belong to his wife.
Well, the outfit is still available for auction, but it is still not decided who will own the outfit.
