Prince William was reportedly far from “optimistic” that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would return to the U.K., with the royal believing the couple would eventually come back with “silent dignity.”
As per US Weekly, the source shared that the Prince of Wales wasn’t very confident that brother the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's return to the United Kingdom.
“There was cautious optimism that perhaps they would arrive in silent dignity and not stir up drama, but William was much less optimistic than the king and was proven right because right now he’s having an ‘I told you so’ moment,” a source said.
“William and Kate don’t have to do anything and say anything. History has proven time and again Meghan and Harry will dig their own grave,” the insider added.
They mentioned, “And this takes them further away from reconciliation.”
“William has not spoken to Harry,” the tipster revealed.
“William also hasn’t gotten over all the stress that Harry and Meghan caused leading up to Kate’s cancer diagnosis. She finally reached remission, only for them to come back to the U.K. and create more stress for everyone.”

Harry and Meghan made headlines last month when news broke that they planned to return to Britain with their kids after six years stateside.
The news came as an even bigger surprise given Harry’s long-standing concerns about his family’s security in the U.K., which he previously discussed with the BBC that “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”
Notably, after the news of Harry and Meghan’s return, a letter was released on behalf of King Charles III to clarify the couple’s status in the royal family.
The brothers’ relationship has remained fractured since Harry and Meghan, 45, quit as senior royals in 2020, with Harry later detailing family tensions in his memoir Spare and their Netflix docuseries.
