Marius Borg Høiby has been granted a retrial by the Court of Appeal, just days after his public appearance at King Harald's funeral.
The surprising update was shared amid the death of Princess Astrid, King Harald's older sister, who passed away on Friday, at the age of 94.

Queen Mette-Marit's son was sentenced to four years in prison for two rapes, abuse in close relationships, and violence back in June by a judge at Oslo District Court.
He appealed the most serious convictions against him, including rape and domestic abuse, and has vehemently denied wrongdoing.
It has been reported that the Court of Appeal has accepted his entire appeal, meaning he will get his case retried, with a full review of both rape cases and the domestic violence charge.
His defense attorney Petar Sekulic told NRK, "As expected, the appeal has been accepted in full."
"There is nothing about this case that is gratifying. But still, he is at least satisfied that the Court of Appeal has heard him here, and that they are allowing the case to be retried, as he has wished."
The case is expected to go to trial next year.

Following Marius's conviction in June, the Oslo District Court ruled that he could remain at home in Skaugum on house arrest with ankle chains.
However, he received permission to visit his stepfather, King Harald, in hospital, as well as the bier ceremony and official state funeral at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday.
Marius Borg Høiby is Metter-Marit's son from a previous relationship, and he is not in the line of succession.
He was just four when his mother married the then-Crown Prince of Norway.
